Karolina Lendák-Kabók was awarded an ICT Conference Grant by PLURILINGMEDIA, enabling her to attend the Association for the Study of Nationalities (ASN) convention in New York. Here are her reflections.
This year’s ASN convention, held once again at Columbia University in New York, was eventful and inspiring. Participating in ASN2025 gave me the opportunity to present my research on young adults who grew up in a mixed language households, reconnect with old colleagues, and engage in thought-provoking conversations with new ones from across the globe and of course to promote PLURILINGMEDIA as a COST Action.
What makes ASN special is not only its academic rigor but also the vibrant community it fosters. From hallway chats to panel discussions, every moment felt like an invitation to think more critically and connect more deeply.
In addition to presenting my work, I also took part in the Nationalities Papers editorial board meeting, where I serve as a board member. We reflected on the journal’s recent progress and outlined future directions. I’m especially proud to be part of a journal that is strongly committed to securing open access publication opportunities for every author—something still rare in the field.
And to top it all off: one of my photos was selected to appear on a future cover of Nationalities Papers!
